SAGAG January Meeting - Talking Bowls

SAGAG January General Meeting 
Talking Bowls - Let's make some Bowls!

Location: Louise Craig's House (address provided when you register)

Empty Bowls is less than 2 months away - time to make bowls to help raise money for SAMMinistries to help homeless families of San Antoino. You can donate bowls for the main sale or donate larger items for the Silent Auction. Empty Bowls is an outstanding event and a great way to give back to our community. 

Come join in this fun meeting with a panel of speakers and lets Talk Bowls:

  1. Wiede will be talking about making recycled bottle "bowls"
  2. Monica will demonstrate her wondrous circle cutting tool 
  3. Louise will take us through a couple of techniques to up your bowl game. Dilution, Color Reaction, etc. 
  4. Sam will be discussing how Torch Work pieces can worked with your fused bowls

    BONUS - There's a Torch work for the Fuser class being offered at Dream Fire on January 25.

    This is a great class and SAGAG is going to be GIVING AWAY (yes another giveaway - it's great to be a member of SAGAG) a scholarship to attend. That's $150 value! Register for the meeting and then attend to be eligible for this fantastic opportunity. The winner of the scholarship is required to participate in an Empty Bowls activity or donate bowls to Empty bowls. It's a great way to give something to the community. 

SAGAG will provide a lite pizza dinner and cold drinks. Members are welcome to bring a side or salad to share.

Watch for upcoming Bowl-A-Thons and your chance to make bowls and have some fun with fellow SAGAG members. 

  • Jan 26 - Empty Bowl-A-Thon 1 -- Our first Bowl-A-Thon will be the following Sunday at Louise's house (near the Quarry). More Info. More info

  • Feb 8 - Empty Bowl-A-Thon 2 -- Monica will be kicking off the 2nd Bowl-A-Thon at her house in the Bulverde area. She'll have all these beautiful circles to make building bowls fast and fun1. More Info.

  • Feb TBD - Empty Bowl-A-Thon 3 -- - Matt plans to have a Bowl-A-Thon at A&A in the Seguin area. I hear he's got some amazing scrap glass to play with - I am sure it's going to be a fun and unique Bowl-A-Thon. More Details Soon.

  • Volunteer are NEEDED to make bowls, to contribute items to the Silent Auction (doesn't have to be glass - any hand made item), to help at the event, unpack bowls, setup, help people, cashier, wrap bowls, cleanup, etc. More on this at the next SAGAG meeting. If you would like to co-chair/organize SAGAGs efforts with Empty Bowls - it's a great opportunity to get involved. Contact info@saglassguild or talk to any SAGAG board member.
