*April 26, 2023* SAGAG General Meeting (via Zoom)
Wednesday, April 26, 2023 6:30 - 8:30

We are beyond thrilled to announce that extraordinary artist Dixie Friend Gay will be joining us via Zoom.

Dixie has very graciously agreed to include some Q&A. Please check out Dixie's website at Dixiefriendgay.com and then send your questions to Sam Hibler at dreamfiresam@gmail.com by noon Sunday so she can compile and send them to Dixie in advance.

Dixie Friend Gay is a nationally acclaimed artist whose prolific career spans more than three decades. The remarkable breadth of her artistic production encompasses public art, sculpture, painting and drawing. She is perhaps best known for her numerous public art commissions, including those at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, the Port of Miami, Indianapolis International Airport, Sam Houston State University and Texas A&M Galveston. Whether large scale architectural projects or intimate paintings, Friend Gay’s work is fueled by awareness of the natural world and its ability to induce altered states.

Her public art has been recognized by Americans for the Arts “Public Art Year in Review” and has received multiple Craftsmanship Awards. Friend Gay was recognized as Texas Artist of the Year in 2003 by the Texas Commission for the Arts. Her studio art can be found in the collections of the Federal Reserve Bank in Houston Texas, Rice University, the Huntington Museum of Art in West Virginia and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston among many others.
