McNay Art Museum - a 1929 Spanish Colonial Revival residence converted to a world class museum- exhibits a French Art Glass collection of the late 1800s to early 1900s.

Art Nouveau and Art Deco glass from Paris flea markets started as a hobby for collectors Jeanne and Irving Matthews, turned into a passion.  The artistic creativity and technical virtuosity of that period resulted in objects of such high quality that this level of achievement has seldom been surpassed.

Art Nouveau's organic forms like sea creatures, bats, mice, or insects are masterfully married to a vase or paper weights for dramatic effect.  Art Deco characterized by clean, geocentric shapes, repeated designs, and a sleek, machine made aesthetic will inspire your imagination.

SAGAG members have an opportunity to tour the exhibit with a McNay docents on July 22, 7 pm. Admission is free and access to the rest of the museum is available until 8:45 pm.  View the McNay Glass Collection Online.

For out-of-town SAGAG members (or any SAGAG members) who want a zoom tour preview, such a tour will be available,  July 20th.

Please register if you wish to attend. The link to join the meeting using ZOOM will be included in your registration confirmation email.
