Volunteer - Empty-Bowls-A-Thon - Let's Make Bowls & Hearts!

Empty-Bowls-A-Thon - time to make bowls and hearts!

This is a great way to learn about glass and have some fun while helping and giving back to our community!

This bowl-a-thon will take place at A&A Products in Seguin, TX with plenty of space for social distancing and safety precautions. 

Can anyone help? Do I need to have experience working with glass? Anyone can help! No experience working with glass is necessary, just a willingness to learn and follow instructions. 

Do I need to bring anything? Bring your own mask and safety glasses if you have them. You can also bring other basic glass working tools, if you have them, but there will be a few extras at the bowl-a-thon. SAGAG members are generously donating COE 90 glass (Thanks A&A Products!) for fusing and recycled glass for other techniques (bottle bowls, etc). 

Are there more opportunities to make bowls and volunteer? Absolutely - glad you asked! Here's some of the other Empty Bowls related opportunities to make bowls and volunteer. The will be virtual with each person working in their own studio. If you don't have access to a kiln let us know and there may be the opportunity to work with another member (following all social distancing and safety precautions for the pandemic). 

  • Feb 17 - Solo Hearts Together! 1 -- Join a zoom get together with other members as we all make hearts in our studios. Instructions and firing schedule provided. Of course if you want to make bowls, we have a handout with instructions and information.

  • Feb 27 - Solo Hearts Together! 2 -- Join a zoom get together with other members as we all make hearts in our studios. Instructions and firing schedule provided. Of course if you want to make bowls, we have a handout with instructions and information.

  • Volunteer are NEEDED to make bowls, to contribute items to the Silent Auction (doesn't have to be glass - any hand made item), to help at the event, unpack bowls, setup, help people, cashier, wrap bowls, cleanup, etc. More on this at the next SAGAG meeting. If you would like to co-chair/organize SAGAGs efforts with Empty Bowls - it's a great opportunity to get involved. Contact info@saglassguild or talk to any SAGAG board member.
