This is a multi-discipline workshop focusing on fusing with flameworked components. Flameworked cane and murrini add a new and unique dimension to fused glass pieces. In this workshop students will learn how to pull simple murrini and multiple canes. You will use the flameworked cane, murrini and beads made in class to full fuse a tile & then add tack fused elements for dimension.

The workshop will begin with making flameworked components and designing a tile for the first firing. The basics of fusing, cutting sheet glass, and preparing glass for fusing will be touched on. Kiln set up and various firing schedules will also be discussed. Students will design a small piece/tile that will be tack fused which will highlight the flameworked elements by leaving them raised. This is a great workshop for exploring the many options available in combining flameworked glass and fusing! Students will each make a small tile that can be mounted as an art piece.

This is a 2 day class. 7 hrs on Saturday 9-5 and 4 hrs on Sunday 10 -2 .

The cost is $230.00 with a 15% discount for SAGAG member.

All materials for the class are provided, the only supply fee is if you want to use extra pre-made components. You should not need them but they will be available.

Nina "Sam" Hibler has taught a class similar to this in Las Vegas at Glass Craft Expo at a much higher price. This class is being offered with a 15% discount for glass guild members to help promote education right here in San Antonio.
