     Announcing: Open Stage & Open Gallery at Luminaria 2018!

     For the first time, Luminaria announces an Open Stage & Open Gallery at the free annual Contemporary Arts Festival on Saturday, November 10, 2018 in Hemisfair! Artists, performers and musicians are encouraged to showcase one San Antonio-themed artwork or performance in celebration of the city's Tricentennial. Luminaria is committed to fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity and inclusion.

     How to Participate:

    -Artists will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis.

    -A manager will accept or decline artworks and performances based on stage and gallery rules (below).

    -Visual Artists: Bring your artwork to the Open Gallery from 10AM – 2PM on Saturday, November 10th to enter.
    The gallery space is outside the Mexican Cultural Institute in Hemisfair.

     Please read the following rules and regulations about the Open Stage & Open Gallery if you are interested in performing or exhibiting. No exceptions will be allowed.

    Open Gallery

    -All artwork must be original.

    -All artwork must come with an attached wire for hanging.

    -One artwork per artist.

    -Artworks must be no larger than 36in. x 36in.

    -Luminaria provides limited basic lighting for this outdoor gallery.

    -We encourage artists to interact with the public and be present with their artwork for the duration of the festival.

    -While Luminaria has general event insurance, artists will be responsible for their own safety and the safety of their property.

    -Artworks originating from a workshop or class under the direction of a teacher are NOT eligible.

    -Artworks must be submitted in person and approved by the gallery manager.

    -Artists must take their artwork down at midnight on the night of the festival.

    -Artwork sales will NOT be permitted as the festival is a showcase event.

    -Artworks containing offensive, hateful, erotic content or content depicting harmful or illegal activities will NOT be accepted as the festival is a family-friendly event.

    -Placement is not guaranteed. This is a first-come-first-serve reservation process.

    SAGAG members are invited to participate in the Olmos Park Terrace Uptown Art Stroll at member Louise Craig's house.

    This is a residents only event but each resident is allowed to have guest artists. This is the 18th year of the Art Stroll and SAGAGs 5th year to participate.

    SAGAG members can participate through the SAGAG CO-OP space, generously sponsored by A&A Glass. Please contact Matt if you have questions about cost and participating in this great opportunity.

    All 10x10 booth spaces have already been claimed but you can let Louise know you would like to be placed on the waiting list in case there are any cancellations.

    The Art Stroll is Nov 3 and Nov 4 - more information can be found at the Art Stroll Website and Facebook page.

    SAGAG members have an excellent opportunity -- the San Antonio Clay & Art Festival 2018 at the San Antonio Museum of Art will accept artist working in glass or ceramics.

    You will need to be a member of the San Antonio Potters Guild. 

    Spaces fill up fast but you have until November 1 to submit your application. There are several options from a full space or co-op space.

San Antonio has a young growing guild of glass artists and enthusiasts who come together from a variety of disciplines including warm, cold and hot glass. We meet monthly with the exception of August and December. It's a great opportunity to meet people who have a passion for glass. We talk, learn and enjoy each others' company.
