Nicole Lozano presents an educational hands-on class, teaching methods of cold working glass using different techniques.

Statement from Nicole- "I believe strongly the feelings picked up by your fingers as they run across a piece are just as important as the message received visually. And that art/craft are meant to be enjoyed. I work to convey these values by creating items made to be lived with and used. I regularly include raised elements and pay close attention to the finish each piece is given. This increases visual depth and contributes to that ever important sense of touch."

For $50 or more, special "Artist Curated Bowls" will be for sale for the more discerning art collector.

Silent Auction art pieces will be for sale from some of the best artisans in our region, along with donations from local businesses.

SAGAG will be volunteering again for our fifth Empty Bowls!  Donate a glass bowl, donate a silent auction piece, or volunteer the day of the event.  We will have a SAGAG tent set up to display the many talents of our glass artists and for community outreach and education.

Contact Leah Stephen at 210-381-6447, or email her at leah@tcbphysicianbillingsolution.com to volunteer or for more information.

Visit the SAGAG Event page at Empty Bowls 2019

    Why do we do this?

SAMMinistries is an interfaith ministry whose mission is to help the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless in San Antonio attain self-sufficiency by offering, with dignity and compassion, shelter, housing, and services.  Last year, Empty Bowls raised $83,433.00!

To learn more about SAMMinistries, visit https://www.samm.org/learn/about-samministries/

    How can we help?

Host a Bowl-a-Thon on a weekend, donate glass bowls, donate artwork to the silent auction, volunteer to pick up soup, or volunteer the day of the event.

    Hosting a Bowl-A-Thon

Contact Leah Stephen to host a bowl-a-thon at 210-381-6447, or email at leah@tcbphysicianbillingsolution.com.  I will provide the glass which has been graciously donated by various members, and the melting forms.  We just need the studio space and someone to donate kiln time.

    Donate Glass Bowls

Make a glass bowl that would sell for $25 in the signature bowl sale, or make a $50 bowl to sell in the elite series bowls!  If you need ideas for making a simple scrap glass bowl, download my recipe here:  Bowltutorial.docx

Glass bowls can be accepted up until the morning of the event on March 3, at 10am.

    Donate to the Silent Auction

Donate anything to the silent auction.  Pieces of artwork, tickets to a basketball game, or class time at a studio for example!  Any donation is very much appreciated.  All donations are due the day of the event, on March 3 by 10am to Leah Stephen.  The form explaining your donation is due to be turned in to Leah by February 17 because we need to get it to the printer ahead of the event.  Download the form here:  EmptyBowlsDonation.docx

*If you are donating to the silent auction, you MUST have the form filled out and turned in to Leah by February 17!  All donations are catalogued and must get a printed auction sheet made before the event.

    Volunteer!

We need volunteers to pick up soup from various restaurants on Friday, March 1, and Saturday, March 2.  We also need volunteers for the day of the Empty Bowls event, Sunday, March 3.  There will be two shifts available, 8:00am-12pm and 12pm-3:30pm.  Please email Leah at leah@tcbphysicianbillingsolution.com to volunteer.

San Antonio has a young growing guild of glass artists and enthusiasts who come together from a variety of disciplines including warm, cold and hot glass. We meet monthly with the exception of August and December. It's a great opportunity to meet people who have a passion for glass. We talk, learn and enjoy each others' company.
